I WANT (A FILM) 2025 | 2 Screens Video-Installation | Super 8 transfered to HD | Loop

One wish per frame.

On one screen, the phrase “I WANT” loops continuously; on the other, hundreds of ways of completing it unfold. Each statement occupies a single frame, becoming partially illegible due to the speed of playback and the fragmentation of the medium. Even in public, the intimate remains veiled.

The work draws on a methodology associated with structural film: a Super 8 camera was used in single-frame mode, assigning unique content to each shot. When projected at 18 fps, the succession of images produces a vertiginous flow that makes full legibility impossible.

These statements were gathered through multiple channels of anonymous and spontaneous participation: messages on social media, random-matching chat platforms, dating apps, and physical drop-boxes placed in different public spaces in Vienna, as well as personal confessions from the artist. The accumulation of micro-texts constructs a polyphonic and contradictory self-portrait of the contemporary psyche, in which emotional declarations, aspirations for prosperity, political demands, carnal fantasies, and trivial banalities coexist.

In a post-digital context marked by overexposure and acceleration, the work prompts viewers to reflect on how we desire, the contradictions of our yearnings, and what we are able to assimilate when the act of seeing is reduced to an instant.
